Gwangju FC’s midfielder Jung Ho-yeon was selected as the ‘Young Player of the Month’ for the first time this season.
The Korea Professional Football Federation announced on the 30th that Jeong Ho-yeon won the K-League ‘Lemona Young Player of the Month Award’. Newly established in 2021, this award goes to the young player who performed the best in K League 1 every month.
This year’s first Young Player Award was judged for a total of 4 games from rounds 1 to 4. Jeong Ho-yeon received the highest score among the five candidates, Um Ji-seong (Gwangju), Lee Tae-seok (Seoul), Hwang Jae-won (Daegu), and Yang Hyeon-joon (Gangwon). During this period, Jeong Ho-yeon played full-time in all games and was responsible for Gwangju’s midfield. In particular, in the 1st round against Suwon Samsung and 4th round against Incheon United, he contributed 1 assist each and received the most votes from the members of the Technical Research Group (TSG) under the Federation Technical Committee.
Jeong Ho-yeon, born in 2000,메이저놀이터 graduated from Kumho High School, a Gwangju under-18 (U-18) team, then went to Dankook University and joined Gwangju ahead of the 2022 season. He helped Gwangju win the K-League 2 with 1 goal and 4 assists in 36 games last year.
The awards ceremony will be held prior to the home game against Suwon FC at the Gwangju Soccer Stadium on April 1st.
